Public Schools Observance 2016

The evening of April 26, 2016 brought together the Brethren and friends of Temescal Palms Lodge #314 with staff and students from the Corona-Norco Unified School District for our annual Public Schools Observance Program. Temescal Palms honored an exemplary student was from each high school in the District with certificates of accomplishment from State Senator Richard Roth, Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione, Congressman Ken Calvert, the City of Corona, and Temescal Palms Lodge. In addition, each student received, through the generosity of the Brethren, a check for $200 to assist in furthering their education. Adult staff, including Teachers of the Year, and other Employees of the Year from the District were awarded certificates recognizing their accomplishments as well. The Brethren of Temescal Palms continue to be impressed by the quality of the students and staff of the CNUSD and are proud to partner with them for this annual event.

Corona Masons Celebrate Public Schools

Since 1920, Freemasons in California continue to celebrate free, public education. Then Grand Master of Masons of California and Superintendent of Public Education, John Swett, declared the month of April as Public Schools Observance Month and urged all Lodges and the Brethren to conduct programs which support their local schools. Temescal Palms Lodge #314 Free and Accepted Masons in Corona has a long-standing relationship with the Corona-Norco Unified School District in this endeavor. The evening of April 28, 2015 saw Worshipful Master Virgil Mink and the Brethren honor eight students, one from each of the District high schools, Teachers of the Year, and other exemplary adult employees.  Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Brethren and Ladies of the Lodge, each student was awarded  two hundred dollars towards their future endeavors, and each honoree received certificates from the Lodge, City of Corona, State Senator Richard Roth, and Congressman Ken Calvert. Among those present were School Board members John Zickefoose, Cathy Sciortino, and Mary Ybarra; Superintendent Michael Lin, Deputy Superintendent Sheri Mata, Assistant Superintendents Sam Buenrostro and Lisa Simon, and Assistant to the Superintendent Linda White.

Public Schools Kick Off - Bing Wong Elementary School 2014

On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, a thirty year tradition continued with Upland-Mt. Baldy and Ontario Lodges hosting their “Schools Night” at the Ontario Lodge. This night recognizes the public schools efforts to educate our children, and recognizes the students who have distinguished themselves through their scholastic achievement and citizenship,  Many officers and members arrived early to set up the Lodge and dining rooms with tables, chairs, and setting out food for the guests. There was a crowd of 186 parents, family, and students who attended.

During the course of the evening many of the District scholars were acknowledged for their successful scholastic and citizenship achievements. The turnout for the event was characterized as “bigger than ever”. The crowd of parents, family, students, and school staff were very appreciative of the support from Masons of both Lodges.

One of the highlights of the evening was a performance of the student Orchestra. They expertly performed a number of classic rock and movie themes, most notably, “Louie, Louie”. All of the students were impressive. The school teachers stories about what has happened in their classrooms were inspiring. It is obvious that the Mountain View School District has worked very hard to build that all important School-Student-Parent team.  The evidence is those children beaming with pride holding their awards for all of their hard work.

After the festivities, all retired to the dining room for snacks and drinks,  Everyone had a great time.
